Collection Representative I

🤔 The Role:

This is a remote Collection Representative I position with McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff, Inc. (MBW), focusing on researching and collecting delinquent consumer accounts. You'll be a key part of our team, working independently and collaboratively to achieve collection goals.

🎯 Responsibilities:

• Maintain a debt collection queue using the provided framework.
• Meet collection goals set by management.
• Understand and follow client guidelines.
• Maintain daily call volume targets.
• Contact customers (mail or phone) about delinquent accounts to encourage payment.
• Keep accurate records of collections and account statuses.
• Locate and monitor overdue accounts using computer systems and automated tools.
• Record customer financial information and collection efforts.
• Speak with customers to understand reasons for late payments and review contract terms.
• Advise customers on debt repayment strategies.
• Persuade customers to pay outstanding amounts on credit accounts, damage claims, or checks.
• Trace delinquent customers to new addresses using various resources.
• Thoroughly research all assigned debtors.
• Perform data entry, documentation, and account maintenance.
• Read, understand, and follow all applicable ISO policies.

✅ Requirements:

• Experience: 6+ months of experience in the collections industry.
• Skills: Organized and detail-oriented, with strong research skills. Proficiency in internet usage and Microsoft Outlook is required. Minimal collection and/or telemarketing experience is a plus.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, work proactively, and be resourceful. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. A strong client focus and a proactive approach to learning and growth are highly valued. Proven ability to handle difficult situations effectively is a must.
