Finnish freelance QA testers and/or editors

👋 About the Role:

We're searching for skilled Finnish freelance QA testers and/or editors (native speakers) for remote work. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced professionals to contribute to a variety of projects.

🚀 What You'll Do (Editor):

• Follow detailed instructions, adhering to client-specific needs (terminology, character limits, consistency).
• Review, proofread, and correct translations within SDL TMS or directly in context (style, completeness, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, trademarks, terminology, character count, style guide adherence).
• Verify the completeness and consistency of localized text, using reference materials and style guides.
• Use Xbench to perform automated QA with customized checklists, addressing and correcting all quality flags. (Xbench license required)

🔍 What You'll Do (QA Tester):

• Linguistic QA focusing on identifying incorrect, inappropriate, or inconsistent translations in target files. Visually compare target and source files.
• Verify layout consistency (e.g., matching bullet point counts).
• Ensure target files reflect the source file's emphasis.
• Verify localized language codes.
• Report incorrect, inconsistent, and inappropriate translations.
• Check for typos, mistranslations, and grammatical errors.
• Confirm the presence of all registered trademarks (®), trademarks (™), copyrights (©), and superscripts (¹, ², ³).
• Ensure consistent tone of voice throughout the entire document.
• Follow detailed instructions and test plans, adhering to client-specific requirements (design, terminology, defect prioritization).
• Verify the alignment, display, and readability of localized assets.
• Verify the completeness and consistency of localized text within its context.
• Access web pages, open file packages, and test files (PowerPoint, Articulate, e-learning courses, technical articles, software content, subtitled/VO videos, videos with onscreen text, closed-captioned content).
• Use defect tracking software to flag defects, providing screenshots and suggested fixes clearly and concisely.

✅ What We're Looking For:

• Native Finnish speaker.
• Proven experience in editing and/or QA testing for: IT content, marketing materials (slogans, creative copy), e-learning courses, technical articles, software content, subtitled/VO videos, videos with onscreen text, and closed-captioned content.
• Proficiency with CAT tools, especially SDL TMS.
• A university degree in translation is a plus.
• Proven linguistic QA & editing skills and experience.
