🔬 What You'll Do
You will be responsible for the development, scale-up, registration/validation of drug substance, particle engineering, and drug development programs. Your work will adhere to quality, HSE, and cGMP policies, and you'll oversee manufacturing processes for clinical or commercial supplies of materials.
Here's a closer look at your responsibilities:
- Lead the technical aspects of multiple intricate projects
- Evaluate diverse options and recommend approaches to fulfill project plans
- Offer troubleshooting support to colleagues with less experience
- Create and review technical documentation related to projects
- Assess new projects technically and provide support to other departments
- Propose improvements to processes and procedures
- Develop Intellectual Property and promote scientific activities and innovation
- Develop and propose new methodologies and technologies to enhance R&D efficiency
- Contribute to Hovione's brand by participating in scientific events, speaking at conferences, and more
- Act as a lead in inspections and internal and external audits related to R&D projects
- Represent Hovione with clients during technical and business assessments
- Network with senior internal and external personnel outside your area of expertise
- Serve as a resource and mentor to team members in your technical areas of expertise
- Train others on subjects related to your area of expertise
- Master scientific investigation processes and tools
- Manage complex projects and analysis with a significant business impact
- Make high-quality and timely decisions using multiple data sources
- Manage risks and uncertainty, anticipating and escalating roadblocks to prevent deviations from goals
- Carry out professional activities in compliance with GMP and HSE guidelines, internal and external requirements, and promote Hovione's policies, systems, and procedures (COPs, HBR, SOPs, etc.)
- Perform tasks in a safe manner, following instructions, and adhering to environmental, health, and safety rules, regulations, and codes of practice.
👨💼 What We're Looking For

Education: A university degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, Biological Engineering, Biology, Mechanical Engineering (device-specific), or a similar scientific field is mandatory. A PhD is preferred.

Experience: Typically, you'll need 5-8 years of relevant experience in Research & Development and/or Operations within the Pharmaceutical Industry. A Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field is usually considered equal to 4 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Unit Operations, or Reaction Engineering, Heat Transfer, Scale-up, Process Safety, and Industrial Operations.
- Understanding of drug product unit operations, solids flow phenomena, and process equipment, as well as drug product formulation and drug delivery.
- Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and Fluid Dynamics with the ability to solve complex problems.
- Knowledge of mathematics, including data management, statistics, and first principles modeling (preferred).

Language: Fluency in English is a requirement.

Computer Skills: You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office.
