The Fraud Prevention Investigator reviews fraud prevention reports, analyzes alerts from detection tools, and takes steps to mitigate fraud and information security risks. You'll identify patterns and trends, compile actionable data, and maintain detailed records of suspicious activity. This role also involves collaborating with management and training internal teams.

🎯 Responsibilities

  • Investigate accounts for suspicious activities, including academic and financial fraud.
  • Review academic and financial transactions, student behavior, and referrals.
  • Collaborate on refining fraud prevention policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Review identity theft complaints and ensure complete documentation.
  • Lead document review for student accounts.
  • Gather documents for external requests and subpoenas.
  • Deliver training on system solutions and fraud prevention best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on fraud prevention tools, systems, and policies.
  • Escalate issues to Legal and/or relevant agencies.
  • Manage critical cases to resolution.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

βœ… Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three years' experience as a paralegal, investigator, or in forensic accounting/auditing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Proficient data analytic skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Adherence to controls and standards.

βž• Preferred Experience

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with Federal Title IV Financial Aid.
  • Experience with Tableau, PeopleSoft, and Salesforce.
  • Experience with enterprise-level fraud detection and investigation software.
