The Role 💼:
As Global Sustainability Director, you'll be a key player in shaping Workiva's ESG strategy and enhancing its reputation. You'll lead sustainability and ESG program management, driving progress in corporate programs and reporting. This is a high-impact role requiring strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
What You'll Do:
- 🚀 Program Management: Develop and implement Workiva's sustainability strategic program, ensuring effective management of work streams and achievement of milestones. This includes overseeing environmental initiatives (renewable energy, carbon offsetting, sustainable supply chain), and providing guidance on recycling and e-waste.
- 🤝 Task Force Leadership: Serve as Program Director and Secretary to the Sustainability Task Force, managing meetings, agendas, minutes, and reporting to executive leadership (CSO and CFO).
- 💻 Platform Champion: Provide ongoing product feedback, beta testing, and act as a key user for Workiva's sustainability and ESG platform.
- 📈 Performance Improvement: Drive year-over-year improvement in sustainability and ESG key performance indicators and impact outcomes.
- 🗣️ Stakeholder Engagement: Lead responses to ESG ratings, rankings, RFPs, stakeholder inquiries, and annual sustainability reporting.
- 📚 Internal Education: Develop and deliver internal training and communication on Workiva's sustainability and ESG initiatives.
- ✍️ Content Creation: Curate and manage content showcasing Workiva's ESG impact, collaborating with Communications and Marketing teams for broader dissemination.
- 🤝 Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various internal teams (Finance, HR, IT, Investor Relations, Legal, Communications) to develop disclosures, data governance practices, policies, and risk procedures.
- ✅ Data Accuracy: Collaborate with the ESG Controller to ensure the accuracy and validation of disclosed data.
- 👨🏫 Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
What You'll Need:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in project management, reporting, or a related field.
- Proven experience leading sustainability and ESG programs.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Minor or certifications in ESG, public policy, corporate social responsibility, or sustainability.
- Relevant certifications (Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, FSA, CPA, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, TCFD, UN SDGs, CDP, MSCI, ISS, EcoVadis, Sustainalytics).
- Proficiency with Workiva solutions.
- Experience leading collaborative reporting or risk processes.
- Excellent analytical, project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
Travel: Up to 30% travel may be required. Reliable internet access is essential for remote work.
Compensation & Benefits:
- 💰 Salary: $154,000 - $250,000 (USD)
