The Role

The High School Computer Science Teacher is a state-certified educator responsible for delivering engaging computer science courses in an online setting. You'll be providing instruction, support, and guidance to students, managing the learning process, and addressing individual student needs.

What You'll Do

  • Provide rich and engaging learning experiences for students through synchronous and asynchronous methods.
  • Personalize learning to cater to each student's unique needs.
  • Believe in and support all students' ability to succeed.
  • Adapt instruction based on student progress and understanding.
  • Enhance course content using various tools and following established guidelines.
  • Maintain student records and ensure academic integrity. Make placement and promotion decisions, and inform administrators about student performance and progress.
  • Prepare students for standardized assessments.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, communicating regularly and responding promptly to students and parents.
  • Assist parents with curriculum, instruction, and basic technical support within the virtual classroom.
  • Stay up-to-date with state, national, and industry-specific learning standards.
  • Develop and implement effective instructional tools and strategies.
  • Collaborate with school and national professional learning communities.
  • Administer and proctor certification assessments (as applicable).
  • Serve as an advisor for a Career & Technical Student Organization.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators to establish business and industry partnerships for work-based learning opportunities.
  • Support a project-based learning model.
  • Travel up to 20% of the time for professional development, student testing, and other school-related events.

What We're Looking For

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree.
    • An active Arkansas Department of Education High School Computer Science Teaching License (or alternatively certified CRE/CTE Teacher).
    • Ability to successfully complete a background check.
  • Also Required:
    • Collaborate with other teachers to interpret and use student data to inform instruction.
    • Be open to regular coaching and feedback from administrators and teacher trainers.
    • Embrace change and adapt to ensure student success.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and platforms.
    • Maintain teacher certification requirements and be proficient in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
  • Nice-to-Haves:
    • Experience working with high school students.
    • Experience supporting adults and children in using technology.
    • Experience teaching in both online and traditional classroom settings.
    • Familiarity with online learning platforms.

Residency Requirement:

Must reside in Arkansas.

Work Environment:

This is a remote position, ideally with a professional home office.

Compensation & Benefits:

Stride, Inc. considers factors like education, experience, location, and market conditions when setting salaries. Offers are typically in the bottom half of the salary range.
