Job Description

This is a remote position requiring up to 50% domestic travel. Candidates may live in any state within the United States and should expect frequent national travel.

The AbbVie Employer National Account Executive (NAE) is responsible for supporting and putting into action strategic business plans in response to the changing healthcare environment. These plans are put into action specifically for national Employer Stakeholders through the AbbVie Employer Team, focusing on making the workforce healthier and more productive, and getting the best strategic access to AbbVie’s treatments.

The Employer NAE will be responsible for building effective stakeholder strategies and interactions that are at the front of emerging issues affecting employee access, affordability, disease awareness/management, and medication value and access. This includes healthcare decision-makers (HCDMs) within national employer plan sponsors, employee benefit consultants (EBCs), and employer groups, as well as emerging stakeholders, influencers, vendors, national organizations, and professional/advocacy organizations.

The Employer NAE gives branded and unbranded messages to employers and employer influencers/KOLs regarding the value and difference of AbbVie treatments to speed up access to care and use benefit plan designs to find and reduce barriers to affordable and predictable prescription (Rx) access. The NAE also gives messages related to the disease state and the burden of illness to increase awareness of treatment solutions and explore ways to develop recommended approaches/case studies.

The Employer NAE will give leadership to make AbbVie stand out in the employer channel, act as a meeting point for stakeholders and regional/national KOLs and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and provide internal strategic ideas to support changing business needs. This ensures timely awareness of market changes and trends and informs internal business leads to allow a quick response to outside changes and Rx management plans that affect affordable access to AbbVie’s treatments.

This role is very collaborative and consultative. It requires partnering and interacting with many cross-functional teams (Market Access leadership, Payer Strategy and Cross Portfolio Strategy and Pipeline, Training, Market Analytics Business Insights, Business Evolution Strategy Development (BESD), Brand Sales/Marketing, Government Affairs and Policy, Corporate Strategy, US Medical Affairs/Value & Access and Medical Outcomes Science & Science Liaisons (MOSLs); Finance, Legal, Compliance, Communications/PR, Field Reimbursement Leadership, Brand Sales/Marketing teams, and internal Centers of Excellence (CoE)). The NAE must show the ability to expect and act proactively and effectively in uncertain situations.

Additionally, the NAE requires significant teamwork with the Corporate Accounts Key Account Manager (KAM) teams. This includes giving timely ideas about changing contract trends and changing rebate models, teaching client-facing teams, and giving updates regarding downstream employer clients and formulary initiatives.

This position does not have direct reports but does require the ability to manage and lead without direct authority across cross-functional teams, while also being able to work alone and productively.

The Employer NAE is the lead for regional employer efforts, working with the Regional Account Executive (RAE) teams and Regional Directors, as well as working together in a compliant way with the Population Health Account Executive (PHAE) team. This includes finding chances or employer access problems and training/teaching and using Employer Team resources and messages for health plans, health systems, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), and employer customers.

This role is also a key partner with other national field-based teams, including the Field Reimbursement team. This involves teaching team members about market changes and solving problems related to employer-focused access issues. The Employer NAE acts as a key person in recording important changes and potential patient disruption, and analyzing possible financial (Gross to Net) effects, as well as working across internal stakeholders to create and carry out ways to lessen these effects.
