The SBO HRO Team manages the Advanced Learning Center (ALC), Human Resource Services, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), and Payroll, making sure HR processes are the same across all locations. CHS is one of the nation’s leading healthcare providers, operating 71 acute-care hospitals and more than 1,000 other care sites across 15 states.

Responsibilities

  • Audit payroll processes and transactions to check for compliance with wage and hour laws, tax rules, and company policies.
  • Review pay calculations, deductions, and changes to make sure they follow FLSA, IRS, and state labor rules.
  • Prepare detailed payroll compliance reports, summaries, and analyses for management and regulatory review.
  • Monitor and understand changes in federal, state, and local laws related to payroll, wages, and tax compliance.
  • Work with Payroll and HRIS teams to make sure system setups match current tax and labor needs.
  • Work with internal and external auditors during payroll and tax reviews, providing documents and checks as needed.
  • Help with tax filing, reporting, and checking payroll liabilities to make sure payroll-related taxes are sent correctly.
  • Look into and fix differences in payroll data, making sure things are accurate and taking corrective action quickly.
  • Work with HR, Legal, and Finance to handle complex compliance issues or law changes that affect payroll.
  • Support payroll year-end tasks, including W-2 checking, changes, and audit support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
  • Follow all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in payroll processing, auditing, or compliance.
  • Strong understanding of FLSA, wage and hour laws, and payroll tax rules.
  • Skill with payroll systems, such as Oracle or ADP, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and apply complex payroll laws.
  • Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, and good judgment.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll operations and tax compliance.
