🙌 About the Role
As a SUN L1 Screening Officer, you'll be the first line of defense in managing a high volume of SUN alerts. These alerts are triggered when a sanctioned person or entity's name matches a BNP Paribas client. Your main task is to quickly analyze these alerts to determine if there's a true match. This role is within our Task Force Team, which supports various BNP Paribas Service Partners. Because the workload can change quickly, you may also be asked to help with other tasks within our Portugal Compliance Hub (OPTI), such as Sanctions & Embargoes analysis (Level A or B2), AML L2 investigations, or Market Abuse investigations.
⭐ What You'll Do:
- Analyze Sanctions and PEPs Level 1 alerts using our screening tool, following established procedures.
- Ensure investigations are high-quality, completed on time, and minimize backlog.
- Verify the accuracy of documents in our systems.
- Close non-suspicious alerts and escalate suspicious ones to Level 2 Compliance.
- Report important alerts to the Team Leader.
- Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly activity reports.
- Train new team members.
- Assist other OPTI teams with Sanctions & Embargoes (Level A or B2), AML L2, or Market Abuse alerts.
- Support the Team Leader with other tasks.
💪 What We're Looking For:
- Fluent English (written and spoken) - this is a must.
- Strong communication skills.
- Sound judgment based on evidence.
- Attention to detail and risk awareness.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask.
- Adaptability to new tasks and changing priorities.
- Proficiency with internal and external KYC tools, IT systems, Excel, and servers.
✨ Preferred Experience:
- Experience in compliance, KYC, or AML.
➕ Nice-to-Have:
- Knowledge of sanctions screening tools.
- Experience with PEP screening.
