💼 Sales Engineer – Portugal

We're searching for a Sales Engineer to join our team! You'll be part of a dynamic business environment where you'll focus on maintaining and building relationships with existing customers while actively seeking out new ones. Your primary work area will encompass the northern region of Portugal, spanning from Porto to the northern border.

🎯 General Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and selecting target opportunities and customers
  • Conducting customer visits
  • Supervising field and tool tests against competitors
  • Recommending tool selection based on customer requests or test results
  • Expanding existing business
  • Developing and acquiring new business
  • Addressing customer inquiries
  • Coordinating technical inquiries between the sales office and customers
  • Monitoring competitor developments
  • Preparing weekly sales forecasts, monthly territory reports, and expense reports
  • Utilizing Kennametal's CRM software
  • Supporting the collection of customers' overdue invoices

🛠️ Outlined Responsibilities:

  • Securing delivery dates, placing customer orders, providing information and advice on tool applications, and resolving customer complaints as needed.
  • Preparing sales forecasts, territory reports, and expense reports as required. Contributing to the development of the annual sales plan in collaboration with your supervisor and being responsible for the implementation and achievement of the territory sales plan.
  • Reaching out to potential and existing customers to promote, sell, and service Kennametal products within a designated sales territory. Recommending product utilization, conducting tests, and demonstrations at customer locations. Reporting significant competitor marketing and sales activities.

🔎 Requirements:

  • Preferred: Residence in northern Portugal or within a 1-hour driving distance of Porto.
  • Strong Knowledge & Experience: Metal cutting processes (turning, milling, hole making).
  • Proven Experience: Field sales experience within the metal cutting tools industry.
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with computer usage.
  • Business Development Focus: "Hunter" profile, capable of developing existing customers and identifying new ones.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to interact effectively with key accounts, distributors, and smaller companies.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong communication skills, both within Kennametal and with external customers.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing market and company environment.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel within the designated territory.
