πΒ The Role:
As a Senior Waste Management Specialist, you'll be a key player in our Environmental Business Line. You'll work directly with project teams and clients, offering expert waste management support across a range of environmental projects. This is a blend of technical expertise, collaboration, and problem-solving.
π―Β What You'll Do:
- Determine waste types for various streams (decommissioning, demolition, remediation). You'll provide guidance on RCRA (40CFR), waste characterization, and regulations, including Haz determinations.
- Develop waste profile data for manifests, profiles, and shipping documents.
- Implement procedures and plans for waste characterization, management, and disposal.
- Guide field teams on waste sorting, segregation, size reduction, packaging, and securing.
- Collaborate on determining appropriate characterization samples.
- Assess hazardous/radioactive treatment, storage, and disposal facilities.
- Identify prohibited waste items needing special handling.
- Perform DOT calculations.
- Create and assist with project-specific Waste Management plans.
- Support client facility compliance reporting (EPCRA, etc.).
- Contribute to proposal development.
- Perform detailed checks on waste management documentation.
- Complete Quality Control reviews.
- Support project cost forecasting.
- Adhere to data integrity and AECOM security policies.
- Review invoices for AECOM billing.
- Support invoice inquiry checks.
- Obtain relevant licenses and certifications.
πΒ What We're Looking For:

Minimum Requirements:Β Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and proficient with MS Office applications. Excellent communication skills are a must, along with knowledge of waste characterization. Background check, MVR check, and drug & alcohol screening required.

Preferred Qualifications:Β 10+ years of similar experience, formal waste management training (McCoy and Associates preferred), 40-hour HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refresher, experience working with various stakeholders, ability to mentor staff.

- Remote work is possible.
- Daily work must include 4 hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
