About the Role The RISK Global Markets (“RISK GM”) team's mission is to provide full transparency and dynamic analysis to Senior Management regarding market, counterparty, valuation, and liquidity risks managed by CIB GM. This helps guide their risk decision-making processes.

Following the Group’s Risk Appetite Statement and RISK’s mandate, RISK GM serves as a second line of defense for related risks. They contribute to setting GM's risk profile, the risk decision-making process, and optimizing resource allocation to support sustainable business growth. They also monitor the actual risk profile against the target, and assess its potential impact from new activities and future changes.

The RISK department aims to be a business partner, contributing to their sustainable development while acting as a gatekeeper to ensure risk alignment with the Group’s Risk Appetite and strategy. RISK teams engage in early discussions with the business to understand their strategy, objectives, and deals, providing opinions and recommendations. The RISK function operates independently, reporting directly to the CEO and Group Board.

Our risk management function (“RISK”) is recognized as a top-tier function within the industry. Our core missions include:

  • Advising the Bank on risk appetite definition, encompassing credit, counterparty, market, liquidity, operational, cyber, and other potential risks.
  • Serving as an objective "second pair of eyes" to confirm that risks taken by the Bank comply with its policies through analysis, valuation, and documentation.
  • Reporting and alerting bank management about the status of risks faced by the bank.

What You'll Do 📝

  • Review and approve Valuation Models, considering their suitability, use, setup, and implementation. This involves challenging hypotheses, verifying math, and reviewing input data and calibration.
  • Compare models to alternative models, understand associated model risk and potential for errors, and assess the significance of those errors. Understand how the model interacts with the market, products, and the wider portfolio. Document the review process and communicate findings to stakeholders while maintaining ongoing and positive communication.
  • Regularly reassess and review existing valuation models. Monitor model performance by developing tools and implementing performance metrics alongside senior analysts.
  • Maintain the mapping between products, models, and associated controls.
  • Manage model parameter controls regarding levels and the overall control framework.
  • Provide quantitative analysis to support the definition and assessment of the risk management framework for new trades, products, and activities that rely heavily on quantitative approaches or models.
  • Define, maintain, and document valuation adjustment methodologies related to model risk uncertainty, and calculate their impact at the appropriate frequency.
