Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and maintain BI solutions using Power BI and Snowflake.
- Build data models, dashboards, and reports that can grow to meet different business needs.
- Work with business people to gather what they need, define key performance indicators, and provide useful ideas.
- Adjust the performance of complex dashboards, data models, and queries, making sure security and governance are followed.
- Connect Power BI with Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and possibly IBM Cognos sources.
- Check that data is correct, fix problems, and make sure quality is high.
- Write down data history, system design, and instructions for users.
- Help end users with BI training and encourage self-service analytics.
- Contribute to recommended approaches for data governance, access control, and automation.
- Guide less experienced developers and support a team environment where people work well together.
Requirements
- Power BI Expert (5β7+ years experience): Including DAX, Power Query (M), advanced data modeling, row-level security, performance adjustments, and Power BI Service governance.
- Snowflake: Strong SQL skills, dimensional modeling, understanding of fact/dimension concepts, and connecting with BI tools.
- Data Warehousing & Analytics (5+ years experience): Experience with ETL/ELT processes, data governance, and working with large amounts of data.
- Strong analytical thinking, with good communication skills for both technical and non-technical people.
- Ability to work alone and as part of teams that cross different departments.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouses, Pipelines, OneLake, Synapse integration).
- Experience with IBM Cognos reporting, dashboarding, or moving systems from Cognos to Power BI.
- Cloud platforms, Azure preferred.
- Project management tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methods.
