Our client is seeking a z/OS Mainframe Systems Specialist to join their infrastructure team. This role involves comprehensive management of enterprise mainframe environments, encompassing system administration, software deployment, and operational excellence within a sysplex configuration. The position also requires expertise in Control-D workflow management solutions.
System Operations & Maintenance: Responsibilities (What Youβll Do)
- Make sure that the z/OS mainframe infrastructure and associated applications perform well and are available.
- Find and fix medium-level technical problems, doing thorough root cause analysis.
- Work with technology vendors to troubleshoot and put suggested solutions in place while giving needed diagnostic data.
- Keep an eye on key system performance indicators to find ways to improve things.
Technical Implementation: Responsibilities (What Youβll Do)
- Put in place and set up third-party mainframe applications and related updates.
- Handle and fulfill user access provisioning requests.
- Follow documented testing protocols and deployment procedures.
Requirements (What Weβre Looking For)
- Comprehensive knowledge of z/OS mainframe architecture within sysplex configurations (mandatory).
- Minimum 5 years in mainframe operations and support roles.
- Solid grasp of IT infrastructure system fundamentals.
- Working knowledge of z-series hardware architecture.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Assembler, COBOL, REXX, or SAS).
- Competency with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and SDSF utilities.
- Experience with BMC Control-D workflow management platforms.
- Understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery principles.
